Personal Experience

Fatma ElMougy is an Emeritus Professor of Clinical and Chemical Pathology at Faculty of Medicine – Cairo University. She was head of the chemical pathology department for five years after which she became chairman of the clinical and chemical pathology department from 2014 to 2016. She acted as the Vice President of the Genome Unit at the Cairo University Hospitals for two years. Before that, she headed the Diabetic Endocrine metabolic Pediatric Unit (DEMPU) Lab for 15 years. She currently has an h-index of 15. She was a co-investigator in the "Program for prevention, early detection & early intervention for Egyptian Children with disabilities & children at risk" an EC funded project "Children At Risk Program "in collaboration with National Council of Childhood & Motherhood. After that she headed her own Science and Technology Development Funded project titled "Rapid Molecular Diagnosis of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia”, and also acted as Head of the Laboratory Team in project (ID:4586): "Viral Load Changes and Placental Infection in Hepatitis C infected Pregnant Women" funded by The Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF). Dr. ElMougy has been involved in national conferences including the largest laboratory medicine conference in Egypt (ESLM) and has held multiple roles such as Secretary General (2012), Conference President (2015) and Chairman of the scientific committee (2018). Dr. ElMougy has also acted as a member of the Associate Professors promotion committee (11th Round) till 2016 and as vice chairman of the Professors promotion committee till 2019 (12th Round).
