Dr. Mohamed Abd Elmonem is a Professor of Clinical and Chemical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt. He graduated from medical school in December 2000 and obtained his Master and Medical Doctorate degrees in Clinical and Chemical Pathology from Cairo University, Egypt in 2006 and 2012, respectively. He obtained a second PhD in the Mechanisms of Human Disease from University Hospital Leuven, KU Leuven, Belgium in 2018. He is currently the head of the inherited metabolic disease laboratory at Cairo University Children's Hospital and a senior scientist in the newly launched Egypt Genome project. He has a current H-index of 25, and has authored over 70 manuscripts in top tier scientific journals in the fields of Genetics, Nephrology, Neurology and Metabolic disorders such as, the Nature Genetics, Journal of American Society of Nephrology, Kidney International, American Journal of Transplantation, Brain and Lancet. His research interests include elucidating the genetic and pathogenic backgrounds of various inherited genetic disorders and the discovery of novel biomarkers for such disorders.
